High School Summer Internship Program

The Workforce Development High School Summer Internship Program is an eight-week, paid summer internship program that introduces high school students to careers and employment opportunities in the healthcare industry. This program, launched by Parkland’s Workforce Development department prepares motivated students to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Participants will receive first-hand experience in a non-clinical professional environment to help prepare them for their future career interests, allowing for an invaluable educational opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements


  • Junior or Senior attending a high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
  • Be at least 16 years of age prior to start date of the program.
  • Must have a career goal of becoming a healthcare professional in either a clinical or administrative capacity.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Must be able to fulfill an 8-week commitment.

Application Guidelines


All documents must be typed and uploaded to your online application to be considered for the internship program:

  • Complete the appropriate online application.
  • Obtain your unofficial high school transcripts, scanned front and back and include as part of your online application.
  • Upload your resume and unofficial high school transcripts to your online application under “Attachments.”
  • Carefully read the Program Agreement. If you agree with all the terms, you must sign and date at the bottom and upload to your online application under "Upload Other Documents."

Additional Information


  • The program is conducted in-person. A remote or hybrid approach is not offered at this time.
  • Applications for the Summer 2026 cycle opens on January 16, 2026.
