Post Natal Nurse Home Visitor Program
Pharmacy Residency (PGY1)

Psychiatry (PGY2)

The 12-month Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency program is designed to lead the PGY2 resident through a variety of monthly and longitudinal practice experiences. This is a co-residency between Parkland and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy, with clinical sites at the Dallas Veterans Administration, the Dallas County Jail and Parkland.

By the end of the program, you should feel competent practicing in inpatient and outpatient settings involving psychiatric pharmacotherapy. The residency includes core rotations that are chosen to establish a strong base in psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders with electives offered in geriatric psychiatry, pediatric psychiatry, home base psychiatric care, pain clinic, HIV clinic and substance abuse.

Core disorders within this residency include depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, personality disorders and substance abuse. You may choose electives based on your career goals. Although the residency is designed around core and elective monthly or longitudinal rotations, the focus of the training will be to master each of the disease states established within the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Practice Standards for a Specialized Residency in Psychiatry.
