Loss During Pregnancy or After Birth

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support

Losing a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn loss is one of the most difficult experiences a family can face. At Parkland, we are here to walk beside you with compassion, respect, and understanding.

Dallas County Fetal-Infant Mortality Review’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of women, infants and their families who have faced a pregnancy loss of at least 20 weeks gestation or the death of their infant up to one year old.

How We Can Help

Our Perinatal Bereavement Team includes specially trained nurses, social workers, chaplains and mental health professionals. Together, they provide:

  • Emotional and spiritual support for you and your family
  • A private, peaceful space where you can spend time with your baby, if you choose
  • Guidance and information about your options and next steps
  • Keepsakes and memory-making opportunities, such as photographs or footprints
  • Help connecting to counseling and community resources for continued support after you leave the hospital

Continuing Support After You Go Home

Healing takes time. Our team can help connect you with ongoing support, including:

  • Grief counseling
  • Local and national support groups for pregnancy and infant loss
  • Referrals for follow-up care with your provider
