Parkland Sports Medicine provides a comprehensive approach to caring for and managing sports injuries and conditions. Many of the new technologies and techniques in this field have been evaluated and/or pioneered at Parkland. The Parkland Sports Medicine team offers cutting-edge expertise in the evaluation and treatment of a broad range of sports-related conditions and injuries.

Conditions We Treat


Sports medicine is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of injuries related to any physical activity, from daily movement to competitive sports. At Parkland, we treat a variety of conditions, some of the most common are:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
  • Rotator cuff tear
  • Labral injury (hip or shoulder)
  • Shoulder dislocation/instability
  • Ankle sprains
  • Achilles tendon rupture
  • Biceps tendonitis

Nathan Boes, MD, is the Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern and Director of Sports Medicine at Parkland. Specializes in shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries, joint replacement, and cartilage restoration.
