Parkland was certified as a Level I Trauma Center in March of 1983, the first hospital in Texas to achieve this status. Trauma Centers must complete re-verification site visits and state designation reviews every three years. Parkland’s trauma center surgeons have all completed trauma fellowships, are all Board Certified in both Surgery and Critical Care. This is a significant advantage for the critically injured patient. This level of trauma surgery knowledge, expertise, and commitment sets Parkland apart from other trauma centers.
