An Observation Experience provides individuals with the opportunity to shadow medical professionals in their area of interest to help them make informed career decisions. Observers witness firsthand the work environment, occupation in practice, the value of professional training, and potential career options. The experience is designed to increase career awareness, fulfill education/application requirement and help model behavior through example.
In the fall of 2013, Parkland recognized the benefits of initiating an observation program and since then implemented the program, Parkland Academy – Career Observation Program (PA-COP). Many requests are received from people interested in various aspects of the healthcare field. PA-COP has 3 observation experiences that, based on the duration, will determine which experience would be most appropriate.
