Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)

We are looking for representatives with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives who are interested in helping Parkland improve our services for you and your family.

Vision

The Parkland Health & Hospital System Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) represents a partnership of patient experience advisors and the hospital system dedicated to advancing compassionate patient and family-centered care.

What is the Patient and Family Advisory Council?


The Parkland Health & Hospital System Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is a diverse group of patients, family members, and caregivers who meet regularly to advise hospital leaders on how we can provide better patient-centered care, and serve the health needs of our community.

Who is eligible to serve on PFAC?


No education or previous volunteer experience is required. Membership requires successful completion of an application, including but not limited to: interview, criminal background check and orientation training.

To become a member of the PFAC, you must be:

  • 18 years old or older 
  • A current /former patient, family member, or caregiver to someone treated at Parkland
  • Able to speak and communicate (read and write) in English
  • Willing to attend PFAC orientation and meetings (meal and transportation/parking will be provided)
  • An advocate for the diverse needs of our patients and their families
  • Respectful and listen to multiple points of view
  • Passionate about wanting to help improve processes, safety and quality at Parkland
  • Comfortable with sharing personal experiences

Steps to becoming a PFAC member:


  • Step One: Complete the online application
  • Step Two: Complete the interview process
  • Step Three: Attend Orientation
  • Step Four: Serve as a general PFAC member or tell us of your interest to be a co-chair
