Post Natal Nurse Home Visitor Program

How can I help?

Your support ensures Camp I-Thonka-Chi will continue to give children who have been injured with burns a chance to grow and flourish in a place that is encouraging and safe. The camp is entirely supported through the generosity of donors and volunteers. You can help.

Make a gift

Although campers attend at no cost, the cost to operate the camp is approximately $350 per camper. This cost includes tuition, bus transportation, medical supplies and activity supplies. For information about donating money or becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact Parkland Foundation.

Support camp activities

Make sure campers have the supplies they need for a full camp experience away from home.

  • Donate new personal items: Campers often need personal items such as swimsuits, shower shoes, sleeping bags, ball caps, towels and duffle bags.
  • Donate food: Growing bodies need fuel. Help provide bottled water and individually wrapped snacks, such as crackers and snack bars.
  • Donate activity items: Camp promotes active minds and bodies. Help by donating board games, books, craft supplies, balls and swimming pool toys, among others.

Volunteer

The camp is staffed by volunteers, many of whom have burn injuries, were campers once themselves or who have cared for patients who have been injured with burns, such as doctors, nurses and firefighters. As a volunteer, you can have a lasting influence in the lives of the children.

  • Counselor: Camp counselors play a vital role in the success of camp each year. Our counselors come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, health care and other areas alike. Counselors are required to go through a full background check. You can apply to be a counselor by filling out the New Counselor Application. If you have already been a counselor, please fill out the Returning Counselor Application.
  • Non-Counselor: If you believe in our mission and want to help in other ways, we have volunteer needs throughout the year, such as participating in fundraising events, assisting with administrative tasks and recruiting campers and counselors.
