Psychosocial Care Team
A traumatic injury impacts more than your body. That’s why The Rees-Jones Trauma Center provides care for the whole patient – not just the physical injury. Our caregivers include a dedicated trauma psychosocial team of licensed counselors, including an alcohol and drug counselor and a psychiatric nurse. A child life specialist also supports all injured patients’ families who have children and injured patients up to the age of 18.
The team’s primary focus is crisis intervention for the patient and family. Following their injury, our staff screens each patient for crisis intervention and support needs, such as screening for behavioral health, alcohol use, drug use and domestic abuse.
The team determines the need for intervention, develops the plan of care for each patient and then provides the counseling and support services needed.
