From Our Leadership

Frederick P. Cerise

Frederick P. Cerise, MD, MPH

President and Chief Executive Officer at Parkland Health

"The U.S. health care system is among the most advanced in the world with some of the best clinical outcomes for those with complex conditions who can access our excellent physicians, emerging technologies, and miraculous new drugs. For far too many, however, that system is out of reach and the gap is widening.

The Health Equity Fellowship at Parkland and UT Southwestern provides a concentrated experience for physicians who have completed residency training to explore underlying causes of inequities in access and in health outcomes and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningful solutions.

Physicians are increasingly frustrated with a dysfunctional health system that limits their ability to adequately care for all people in need; and physicians are in unique positions to address change through practices and health policies for the benefit of patients. The Parkland Fellowship will provide the experience and support to build a foundation of understanding and skills for individuals committed to improving care for the underserved today and to changing systems for the future."
