Learning & Experience Apprenticeship Program for Patient Care Assistants (LEAP-PCA)

The Learning & Experience Apprenticeship Program for Patient Care Assistants (LEAP-PCA) is one of Parkland’s initiatives to support the Dallas County community. This internal and external "earn while you learn" program offers an apprenticeship, providing comprehensive clinical training for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification.

Program Highlights


  • Hands-On Experience: Work closely with a Workforce Development Program Manager and Clinical Educator from Parkland.
  • Comprehensive Training: Receive training from Parkland’s Clinical Educators, learn all skills associated with being a Patient Care Assistant, and complete clinical rotations at Parkland Hospital during the first three months of training.
  • Professional Development: Engage in clinical projects, intensive knowledge gained and collaboration with experienced healthcare leaders.
