Watch out for poisonous bugs
Poisonous bugs and insects can be found anywhere, including your home or backyard. To stay safe from getting a poisonous bite or sting, follow these tips from the North Texas Poison Center at Parkland.
- Always check shoes and clothes before putting them on, especially when they are kept outside.
- When camping, shake out the tent and sleeping bags before climbing in.
- Watch for bugs that may hide in garages or under cars.
- When getting firewood or rocks, watch where your hands go.
- Be careful not to bother bees when walking through a field of flowers or working in the backyard.
- Keep sweet drinks and food covered.
- Use a bug spray when going to areas that have chiggers, black flies or ticks.
