Making a change to address health disparities in five Dallas County zip codes

Reported by The Dallas Morning News, the community health needs assessment report created by Parkland Health & Hospital System and the Dallas County Health Department highlights the health disparities affecting residents in five zip codes in southern Dallas. Local officials and health experts are developing a comprehensive plan, to be released in January, to address the acute healthcare needs of people in these areas.

Parkland's tiniest patients celebrate Halloween with handmade costumes

Babies in the Parkland Neonatal Intensive Care Unit celebrated their first Halloween with handmade costumes created by Parkland staff, volunteers and parents. Reported by KDFW-TV (FOX), nearly 100 babies wore creative costumes like a rainbow, emojis and paired costumes for twins, such as peanut butter and jelly.

The Injury Prevention Center of Greater Dallas celebrates 25 years

The Injury Prevention Center of Greater Dallas (IPC) at Parkland works to combat the increasing number of trauma cases by working in the community at large and in neighborhoods that need the most assistance. As reported by PublicNow.com, throughout the past 25 years the IPC staff has used data to determine injury and violence prevention priorities and collaborated with partners and stakeholders to implement prevention strategies, such as distribution of smoke alarms, child passenger safety seats, booster seats and more.HTML

Binational Health Fair helps with North Texas health needs

LULAC, the nation's largest and oldest Latino civil rights group, and Alliance for Progress hosted the 19th annual Binational Health Fair in Dallas. Hilda Ramirez Duarte, LULAC District 3's Deputy Director for Women spoke with Texas Hospitals Magazine about the services provided at the health fair and sponsors like Parkland that provide the resources to educate and serve the health needs of Dallas residents.
