Nurse-Family Partnership
The Nurse-Family Partnership improves the health and social skills of Medicaid-eligible first-time mothers and their babies.
Through this free program, a registered nurse visits the first-time mother’s home early in pregnancy. The nurse works one-on-one with mother during prenatal care and makes home visits until the child turns two years old. The nurse provides education and counseling on health, parenting, developmental issues and life skills.
Healthy pregnancy
Nurses help new and expecting mothers improve their diet and nutrition, find medical care and learn to make healthy choices, such as avoiding tobacco and other harmful substances.
Healthy children
First-time mothers learn how to provide for children’s physical and emotional health and safety needs. Nurses help parents build a strong support system of family and friends.
Healthy personal development
Together, nurses and parents create a vision for the future. They plan for future pregnancies and create steps toward continuing education and job security.
