Parkland Foundation works to fund John F. Kennedy Tribute Park

President Kennedy stood for the needs of the underserved and Parkland’s mission of providing care aligns with those same values. To honor this, the Parkland Foundation launched a campaign to fund the John F. Kennedy Park for Hope and Healing at Parkland. Planned for construction early next year, the park will offer a place of hope, healing and history while celebrating the president’s life. Diabetes events in November

Diabetes affects 11 percent of the Texas population. Parkland wants to help everyone manage diabetes and have their best chance of living long, healthy lives. There will be three community events in Dallas this November to educate the Latino community on how to manage diabetes. Get the details on Al Día.

Spicy snacks too hot to handle

You might want to think twice about “setting your mouth on fire” with spicy chips. Parkland physician Manisha Raja, MD told KTVT-TV (CBS) that these flaming snacks are a phenomenon that could be dangerous. Overindulging can cause pain, damage internal tissues and lead to an unhealthy addiction.

Could cereal be the perfect breakfast for diabetes?

If you have diabetes, milk and cereal might be the best way to start the day. Parkland registered dietician Marissa Aguillon explained to KERA News why dairy products combined with the right kind of cereal or grains can be part of a balanced and nutritious breakfast for those with diabetes.
