New labor and delivery rooms designed with moms, babies in mind
The first hours and days after welcoming a new addition to the family are an important bonding time for parents. Special features at the new Parkland focus on the comfort of moms and babies during this critical time.
Unlike the set up in the current facility where space is at a premium, expectant moms labor, deliver and recover in the same room. Each of the 44 private labor and delivery rooms in the new building feature spacious private bathrooms with walk-in showers, a fold-out couch for loved ones and flat-screen TVs for entertainment and a new patient education system. The private rooms also allow new parents more quiet time to bond with their infant.
Soothing colors and large windows create a natural healing environment for new moms and infants. The design puts patient comfort at the forefront by reducing foot traffic and noise through an on-stage/off-stage layout. Standardized rooms make it easy for staff to locate necessary equipment upon entering.
