Parkland Health named one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals
Recognized by Newsweek and Statista for high performance in maternity care
Parkland Memorial Hospital has been named one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2025 by Newsweek and Statista, earning a four-ribbon performance rating in this year’s ranking. This designation reflects Parkland Heath’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care to mothers, babies and families across Dallas County.
The annual America’s Best Maternity Hospitals list recognizes hospitals that excel in key areas of maternity care, including clinical outcomes, patient experience and satisfaction as well as hospital reputation among healthcare professionals.
The report also highlights the importance placed on providing excellent care before, during and after birth, recognizing that prioritizing maternal care during every stage of pregnancy can help prevent lifelong complications for both the mother and the child. More than 97% of women who deliver their baby at Parkland also receive prenatal care from the health system. Parkland offers a host of programs aimed at improving maternal health and empowering families, including:
- Parkland’s nationally recognized extending Maternal Care After Pregnancy (eMCAP) program, which launched in 2020 and ensures women living in underserved areas of Dallas County receive postpartum follow-up care for 12 months.
- Parkland’s Post Natal Nurse Home Visitor program, which aims to help new mothers build a healthy and secure relationship with their child while connecting them to services and resources based on their family’s needs through routine home visits with a registered nurse who assess physical, social and psychological health.
- Parkland’s Healthy Start program, a federally funded initiative designed to address the many challenges faced by expecting and new mothers and fathers in the Dallas area. With a goal of reducing gaps in maternal and infant health, the program provides comprehensive services that extend beyond traditional healthcare, such as housing, food assistance, transportation and childcare resources.
- Parkland’s Nurse-Family Partnership, a program that seeks to improve the health and social skills of Medicaid-eligible first-time mothers and their babies. A nurse collaborates one-on-one with the mother during prenatal care and makes home visits until the child turns 2 years old, providing education and counseling on health, parenting, developmental issues and life skills.
“This recognition is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our nurses, providers and support staff,” said Carmen Bowling, DNP, RN, Senior Vice President, Women & Infants Specialty Health (WISH) at Parkland. “Because of them, Parkland continues to be a trusted place for maternity care in our community.”
Hospitals awarded four ribbons demonstrated strong performance across multiple indicators, including low rates of complications, effective communication with patients and a commitment to health equity. This year’s rankings evaluated more than 3,600 hospitals nationwide, with only 262 earning the four-ribbon distinction.
