Thanksgiving Safety Tips

Parkland wishes you a wonderful holiday season. Thanksgiving is a great time to spend time with loved ones, eat delicious food, watch football and travel to visit family and friends. However you celebrate, Parkland hopes you keep these safety tips in mind.

Kitchen safety:

• Keep children away from the stove
• Do not leave the house while food is cooking
• Keep hazards out of reach for children

Fire safety:

• Keep baking soda on hand to put out kitchen fires
• Do not leave food cooking or the stove unsupervised
• Make sure smoke alarms are working
• Keep a household fire extinguisher and make sure everyone knows how to use it

Food safety

• Always wash your hands after handling raw or under-cooked poultry
• Use separate cutting boards for raw meat and produce to prevent cross-contamination
• Store leftovers within 2 hours.
