Joe Longo recognized for excellence in technology leadership
Parkland Health’s Chief Information Officer, Joseph Longo, MBA, CHCIO is one of seven CIOs in the city of Dallas recognized as the 2022 DallasCIO ORBIE Award winner for demonstrating excellence in technology leadership. Longo took home the Large Enterprise ORBIE award for organizations with more than $2 billion in annual revenue during the organization’s annual celebration recently.
The CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in the United States. Since inception in 1998, over 500 CIO of the Year winners have received the prestigious ORBIE Award. Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer-review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based upon:
- Leadership and management effectiveness
- Business value created by technology innovation
- Engagement in industry and community endeavors
Longo is responsible for all aspects of information technologies at Parkland including IT strategy, operations/infrastructure, service, network/telecom, enterprise data services, and project delivery.
“There is not a more deserving individual given the ongoing public health challenges we face, and the essential contributions made by our healthcare information and technology team to our COVID-19 response,” said Fred Cerise, MD, Parkland’s President & CEO. “Joe advocated in the public health space to advance the technology adoption of peer organizations and local public health agencies to streamline reporting COVID cases and, in the future, other reportable diseases. This is above and beyond his prescribed duties as Parkland’s CIO, but it is aligned with Parkland’s overall mission to create a healthy community.”
The 2022 DallasCIO ORBIE Award winners were recognized in seven key categories – Leadership, Super Global, Global, Large Enterprise, Enterprise, Large Corporate, & Corporate.
