Elizabeth A. Palacios, MD named to Parkland Board of Managers
Dallas County Commissioner Theresa Daniel, PhD has appointed retired physician Elizabeth A. Palacios, MD to serve on the Parkland Health & Hospital System Board of Managers.

Each member of the Commissioners Court appoints two individuals to serve on the Parkland Board of Managers. In addition, the Commissioners Court names one member of the board collectively to serve in an “at-large” position. Board members will serve staggered three-year terms, with as near as possible to one-third of the members’ terms expiring each year. Dr. Palacios replaces Scherry Johnson, EdD who resigned.

“Dr. Palacios is a strong, smart appointee who asks great questions. She brings a wealth of patient knowledge and practical experience to the Parkland Board,” said Commissioner Daniel. “I am confident she will represent Dallas County and the public well.”

Dr. Palacios, an internal medicine physician, retired in 2013. During her medical career she practiced at White Rock Internal Medicine and East Lake Internal Medicine Associates in Dallas. Before earning her medical degree, she served as a medical services technician in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. After leaving active duty, she served as an aeromedical evacuation technician in the USAF Reserves, 345h AES, stationed at Kelly AFB, Texas.

Dr. Palacios earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston and completed her residency in internal medicine at University Medical Center, Jacksonville. She received her bachelor of science in medical technology as a joint degree awarded by the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society.
