Diabetes project launches with grand rounds on May 5 & 6

Parkland will host Diabetes Grand Rounds events at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, and 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Community Medicine Quarterly Forums at Fellowship Dallas, 9330 North Central Expressway, Dallas 75231. All Parkland primary care providers, including physicians, nurses, social workers and pharmacists, are invited to attend. The presenters will include Robert E. Ratner, MD, FACP, FACE, Chief Scientific and Medical Officer of the American Diabetes Association; Luigi Meneghini, MD, MBA, Professor and Executive Director of the Global Diabetes Program at Parkland, and Professor, Division of Endocrinology, UT Southwestern; and Noel Santini, MD, FACP, Medical Director & Chief of Adult Medicine for Community Medicine at Parkland.

These grand rounds coincide with the launch of a collaborative quality improvement project called “Diabetes INSIDE” with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Intelligent Medical Decisions, Inc. (iMD), which aims to identify patients for earlier intervention and better management of Type 2 diabetes. Parkland is one of only three sites in the U.S. selected to participate in this project, and approximately 3,000 Parkland patients could be impacted by the program.
