David Lopez named Parkland chief operating officer
Administrator has decades of healthcare experience
David S. Lopez, FACHE, has been named Parkland Health & Hospital System’s permanent Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Lopez first came to Parkland in February to serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer.
“David’s decades of experience as a healthcare administrator have been invaluable in his short time here and I am confident he will continue to be a valuable asset to Parkland,” said Fred Cerise, MD, MPH, Parkland’s President & CEO.
Prior to joining Parkland, Lopez served as Chief Operating Officer for four years and Chief Executive Officer for nine years at Harris Health System in Houston. He has spent much of his career working in public health systems throughout Texas and is committed to the public healthcare mission.
“I am honored to join the Parkland team. Throughout my career I have worked with Parkland leaders and have long been impressed with the quality of staff, programs and the work being done both in the hospital and community,” Lopez said.
Lopez earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served in various leadership roles for the American Hospital Association, Texas Hospital Association and America’s Essential Hospitals formerly known as the National Association of Public Hospitals.
