New year, new health goals: How Parkland can support your resolutions
Start the year strong with a primary care provider to guide your health journey

With the start of the new year comes a renewed focus on health and well-being. From weight loss and nutrition changes to improving sleep and managing stress, many people set ambitious resolutions, only to feel overwhelmed when trying to tackle them all at once. Without clear guidance, even the best intentions can quickly fall off track.
With an established network of community clinics and hubs, Parkland Health makes accessing care simple and convenient. Establishing a relationship with a primary care provider (PCP) is one of the most effective ways to get started. A PCP helps patients focus on what matters most, address existing health concerns and build a realistic plan for the year ahead.
Beyond annual checkups, PCPs play a critical role in preventive care and overall health management. They coordinate routine screenings, manage chronic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, and connect patients with specialists when additional care is needed.
As a physician, one of the most important things we can offer patients is continuity of care,” said Cesar Termulo, MD, Pediatrician and Associate Medical Director of Parkland’s Community Health Centers. “A primary care provider helps patients look at the full picture of their health, from prevention and early detection to managing chronic conditions. When patients have an established PCP, they’re better equipped to make informed decisions and stay on track with their health goals throughout the year.”
Parkland offers a network of neighborhood-based community health centers designed to make primary and preventive care more accessible across Dallas County. With 16 locations throughout the county, the community clinics aim to reduce common barriers to care, including transportation challenges, cost concerns and limited access to providers by delivering services in people’s neighborhoods.
These health centers provide a wide range of services for patients of all ages. In addition to sick visits and acute care, they offer routine physicals and checkups, immunizations, chronic disease management, nutrition counseling and other essential healthcare services.
“Our network of neighborhood-based health centers offers affordable, comprehensive and convenient medical care throughout Dallas County, designed to meet people where they are,” said James Perez, MHA, CMPE, Vice President of Clinical Operations at Parkland. “By offering a comprehensive range of services, we are able to provide patients with medical care in their own communities.”
In addition to its network of community clinics, Parkland’s Access to Care & Coverage Program can also help connect individuals with the healthcare services they need, such as no-cost health screenings. When screening results indicate a need for follow-up, the program helps connect patients with the appropriate next steps.
