Individuals must meet criteria to be eligible
Beginning today Parkland Health & Hospital System will begin offering third doses (Pfizer and Moderna) to immunocompromised patients. Patients are eligible for a third dose if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Have received a transplant (kidney, liver, bone morrow, etc.)
- Have a medical condition that lowers the immune system (current cancer, HIV with CD4 less than 500, auto-immune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus “lupus”)
- Are taking medications that lowers the immune system such as:
• Adalimumab (Humira)
• Infliximab (Remicade)
• Mycophenolate (Cellcept)
• Tacrolimus (Prograf)
• Azathioprine (Asasan)
• Mercaptopurine (Purixan)
• Rituximab (Rituxan)
• Tofacitinib (Xeljanz)
• Etanercept (Enbrel)
• Methotrexate (Otrexup, Rasuvo, Rheumatrex or Trexall)
• Steroids (Prednisone, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortisone)
Individuals must be at least 28 days past their second dose to receive the third dose. Those who previously received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not eligible for a booster at this time.
Eligible patients can get the third dose by scheduling an appointment either through their Parkland MyChart account or by calling the Parkland COVID Vaccine Hotline at 214-590-7000, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Additionally, eligible patients can receive their third dose without an appointment at Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 S. Polk St., Dallas, 75232. The drive-through location is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
