Salad for breakfast?

Isabella Ferrari, RD talked about the new trend of eating salad for breakfast. While it’s not clear how the idea started, the Parkland registered dietician told KERA-FM that it’s a food trend she can get behind because it offers a variety of healthy choices. As always, avoid high-fat, store-bought dressings and salty, cured meats such as bacon, she warned.

Prostate cancer risks for men

As part of prostate cancer awareness month, Yair Lotan, MD explained to KRLD-AM that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and how risk factors include age and genetics. As men age, it’s important that they talk to their physician about whether to get screened, he said.

Head-scratching pests

When school is back in session, so are pests that children share like head lice. Suzette Báez, MD, a pediatrician at Parkland, explained to Al Día what to look for and how to treat and prevent head lice in the future.
