Patient healing through community support

As part of its coverage of the role of faith in healthcare, Texas Hospitals Magazine shared information about the DFW FaithHealth Collaborative in which area faith communities help patients through healthcare needs and crises. Collaborative leader and Parkland Chaplain Freedom McAdoo explained how nearly 150 patients have been referred to the group for support and guidance as they navigate their needs through a complex healthcare system.

Bustin’ a move for breast cancer

All in the name of awareness for breast cancer, Parkland staff from across the system, representing many different departments, came together to cut a rug for the annual online phenomenon known as the “Pink Glove Dance.” KTVT-TV (CBS) shared the video that is set to “Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing.”

Fire safety for children

PublicNow.com shared tips to help keep children safe from fire dangers. Stephanie Campbell, RN, Burn Program Manager, described how pediatric burn patients at Parkland are often injured as a result of playing with a lighter.

Pamela Bryant, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, discussed with Texas Hospitals Magazine how standardization has improved the purchasing process with initiatives such as expanding a group purchasing partnership and more strategic diversity initiatives.
