Drive safe during the cold weather
Winter is one of the most dangerous driving months of the year. Be extra careful this holiday season with these tips from Parkland safety experts.
- Avoid doing anything that takes your eyes, hands or attention away from driving. This includes texting, checking directions, or putting on makeup.
- If you plan to drink alcohol, call a taxi or let someone drive who has not had any alcohol.
- Leave early. Don’t run red lights or drive too fast.
- If there’s ice on the road or the weather is bad, change your schedule. Don’t put your family’s life in danger.
- Don’t drive if you are too tired or sleepy. When going somewhere far, take driving breaks.
- Wear a seatbelt at all times.
- Make sure kids are in a car seat or booster seat that is right for them.
