Parkland Prescription Take-Back Event

Saturday, April 30, 2016 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Parkland Ambulatory Surgery Center parking lot
4900 Harry Hines Blvd.
Dallas, TX 75235

26% of all teen deaths occur from poisoning, mainly from overdosing on old drugs out of the family medicine cabinet. As a hospital system, Parkland staff is acting to be the first preventers of health care complications bye taking old, unwanted and expired prescription drugs from the public. These drugs will be disposed by trained professionals so that they don't stay in medicine cabinets or contaminate the soil or water we use.

Members from the Parkland Sustainability team, Dallas County Hospital District Police Department and North Texas Poison Center will be in the Ambulatory Surgical Center parking lot, Garland Health Center and Hatcher Station Health Center to help you dispose of prescription drugs. Simply drive up to the lot and the police will take the bag of prescription drugs with no questions asked.

Controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter medications may be collected from individuals. The general public is often unaware of the distinction in medication status. Intravenous solutions, injectable medications and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.

Remember, teams will be stationed at Garland Health Center and Hatcher Station Health Center too! Feel free to go to your most convenient location.
