Learning you are expecting a baby is an exciting time. At Parkland, we want to guide you every step of the way. Our Women and Infants Specialty Health staff will help you prepare for the changes ahead.

Prenatal care

You and your baby’s health is our top priority. Prenatal care keeps both mom and baby healthy. More than 97 percent of women who have their babies at Parkland also receive prenatal care here.

Prenatal care is available at many locations throughout Dallas. Through this program, you can see the same provider for your prenatal care, post-partum visit and family planning consultation. Our women’s health educators will help guide you with information on nutrition and exercise.

Prenatal services may include sonograms of your baby as it grows, help managing medical conditions during pregnancy and tips for keeping you and your baby happy and healthy. You can schedule prenatal appointments at our Women’s Health Centers located throughout Dallas County.

Parkland Healthy Start

Parkland Healthy Start is a Parkland program that helps moms and their babies. The goal of the program is to reduce infant deaths and low-weight births. Learn more at  Parkland Healthy Start.

Nurse-Family Partnership

The Nurse-Family Partnership is a free program for Medicaid eligible first-time mothers and their babies. A Registered Nurse works one-on-one with mother during prenatal care and makes home visits until the child turns two years old. Learn more about Nurse-Family Partnership or to see if you qualify.

Paying for your services

Parkland has programs for pregnant women that can help pay for your medical care. The financial counselors at our Women’s Health Centers can help you apply for Medicaid, CHIP Perinatal and Parkland Financial Assistance. If you qualify, these programs will pay for the cost of your care while you are pregnant and for your delivery. Some of the programs are only available if you get your care at Parkland.

Please call your local Parkland Women’s Health Center to make an appointment so we can help find programs you might qualify for. When you come to your appointment, please bring:

• Picture ID
• Birth certificate, passport or citizenship papers
• Proof of income, such as a paycheck stub from the last 60 days
• Current Medicaid card, if you have one
• WIC documents, if you have them
