Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-informed Care (TIC) is an approach in healthcare that recognizes most people have been through hard situations. This can show up in how they cope with life and how they relate to other people.

Our behavioral health services knows most people have been through something and that different people deal with this in different ways. This can be referred to as “trauma”. We work hard to understand what the signs of trauma are and to consider this as we care for patients, their families and our employees. We want everyone to feel safe at Parkland when they walk through our doors. With TIC, we want to build trust and safety, so that you and your family members can work together with providers to choose the care that is right for them. Open communication, compassion, and doing what we say we will do are important parts of our work, and so we provide services to our patients with these goals always in mind.
