Psychiatry Inpatient Unit

Description: The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit is a 28-bed unit located on the 17th floor of Parkland Memorial Hospital. The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit is a locked unit providing treatment to patients with acute psychiatric needs who are on voluntary and involuntary statuses. This is achieved within a safe, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, therapeutic environment through multidisciplinary collaboration in the assessment, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, group therapy, and disposition process. Our teams work with patients and their support network to develop a plan that aims for success once discharged back home.

Services: The Inpatient Psychiatry Unit provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are both individual and shared rooms on the unit. Care and treatment are based upon the nature and severity of the patient’s complaint. A variety of groups are held daily including psychoeducational, therapeutic, and exercise.

Treatment Teams: The treatment team consists of a psychiatrist or advanced practice provider, psychologist, social worker, registered nurse, and psychiatric technicians. There are also dieticians, occupation health specialists, pharmacy technicians, and peer recovery navigators, among other professionals who are all working to assist you or your loved one.
