Parkland’s 11 Youth & Family Clinics are based at schools across Dallas County, offering a network of high-quality, affordable and accessible medical care clinics. While services include preventive care checkups, sick visits, sometimes specialty care or providers are needed but located at the main campus
Telemedicine allows the patient to receive a diagnosis or treatment by a provider at a distant site by using video. The hardware used includes medical peripherals, such as stethoscope, otoscope, etc. Together, they allow the provider to visually assess the patient, while the peripherals allow the provider to auscultate the heart and lungs from miles away. The provider can use the information gathered to diagnose and treat the condition or refer the patient to a higher level of care if needed.
Telemedicine allows the clinic to offer more same-day appointments and more walk-in appointments for unexpected illnesses.
