New Parkland dedicated
More than 400 community leaders, faith-based representatives, elected officials and donors joined Parkland staff for the dedication of the new state-of-the-art hospital to the residents of Dallas County on March 30. Speakers included U.S. Representative and Parkland-trained physician Michael Burgess, MD, U.S. Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, Dallas County Sherriff Lupe Valdez, Parkland Board of Managers chair Debbie Branson and Parkland president and CEO Fred Cerise, MD.
In celebration of the dedication, the Dallas skyline and the new Parkland glowed with purple lights on the evening of March 29. Lighted buildings throughout the city switched from their signature colors to “Parkland purple,” including the Bank of America Plaza, Reunion Tower, Hunt Oil Company, the Omni Hotel and 17Seventeen McKinney.
