With Halloween around the corner, Parkland Health has
some tips on how to trick or treat safely on the spooky
holiday. Everyone loves a good scare, but children and
adults alike need to take safety measures to prevent
accidents and injuries.
Keep these tips in mind when your children are out on
Halloween night:
• Young children should be accompanied by an adult
when trick or treating.
• Plan with your child on what time they should
return home.
• Teach your children never to enter a stranger's home
or car.
• Children should stay in familiar, well-lit areas and
stick with their friends.
For drivers on Halloween night:
• Watch for children walking on roads, medians and
curbs.
• Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully.
• Watch for children in dark clothing and costumes,
especially in the evening.
• Always drink responsibly and plan a sober ride.
